Big Al

Big Al's Page

The following pictures have been taken over the Fall and Winter, showing her graciously allowing me to minister to her, modeling the Fall Fashions on saddle pads, meeting The Buzz, getting a bath and just looking pretty.

I'm getting better at taking pictures of her. The first one is just when we were tacking up to go out at the ranch. The last two I took when we went to Henry Coe for a ride. A trailer with a couple of other horses pulled up and Al had to look closely to see if there were numbers on their butts. Cody is also looking goood here, too.

This is a copy of the newspaper story from 1997 (I think) that chronicles Big Al's break for home. Judy had taken her out for the first time since she had had Zeph and Eli and Big Al got a little anxious - wouldn't you if you were responsible for those two? Anyhow, Judy wasn't moving fast enough, so Ali took off for home on her own, thus making history.

This explains why Ali is *always* looking out the trailer window - so she can find her way home - and why Judy insists that she be ridden with a halter and a hackamore.

It's good that Al got her 15 minutes of fame, but we'll never be able to get a job as a mounted security team at the airport. It was going to be tough with a name like Ali, and now that she has a record, I guess it's just a dream.

Still trying for a pasture picture that does her justice.

Here is why I can spend my life grooming Big Al. I'm not sure how one horse can get so dirty! The last picture is of her cruising in the snow in the pasture. It snowed at The Ranch the last week of January. We couldn't let the horses out in the arena for about a week because the puddles stayed frozen.

Here is Big Al "Scrooge" Robinson in her Christmas
clothing. It took Cathy and I both to convince her that this
was a good idea, but we finally got to her!
